I know finding foods that are low in calories that still taste good is a struggle most people deal with one time or another. And it’s hard for people who are restricting calories to find foods that keep them full that taste good. Well this is for those people. I’m going to give you guys a little insight on what foods I recommend for breakfasts (or lunches) that don’t taste like cardboard but don’t break the calorie bank.
Now personally, I don’t eat breakfast. I’ve never really liked breakfast, because I am not a morning person. So I have these things for lunch, but they’re great for breakfast too. When I have to eat breakfast, like before an early morning workout or class, I like to eat these things.
One of the things that I’m digging is by BetterOats and it’s their OatFit line of oatmeal. I have it in the flavor of ‘Cinnamon Roll’ and here’s the kicker: it only has 100 calories. That’s right a serving of oatmeal that tastes like a cinnamon roll will only cost you 100 calories. They also have more traditional flavors like ‘Apple and Cinnamon’ and ‘Maple and Brown Sugar’, if that’s more your style for oats.
It has 18g carbs so it will keep you full and energized for the morning until your next meal. Because I know that can be a real downer, eating something and then still being hungry and wanting more. It’s also low in fat but what’s good is it’s also low in sugar. Because generally when a company takes out the fat they put in a boatload of refined sugar, so it’s still bad if not worse for you. But this still is sweet, it just doesn’t get it’s sweetness from refined sugar.
The other food that I’m obsessed with and love to eat with this oatmeal is Dannon’s Light and Fit Greek Yogurt. It’s 12 grams of protein, but only 80 calories. So for a breakfast (or lunch) with 13 (12 from the yogurt 1 from the oatmeal) grams of protein, 27 grams of carbs and 2 grams of total fat (both of those grams are from the oatmeal), it’s only 180 calories! My personal favorite flavors of the yogurt is ‘Boston Cream Pie’ (which is seasonal) and ‘Strawberry Cheesecake’. But they have loads of other flavors.
These yogurts are also good to keep around for a sweet treat after dinner. Because I know for me personally, I’ve been so into my frozen yogurt. But frozen yogurt has so many calories and I don’t know what exactly is in it. So this is a good alternative to that, and it’s in the comfort of your own home.
So there you have it! A complete, filling breakfast that is only 180 calories, so the calories you save here means you could splurge a little bit for dinner or even have another yogurt to treat yo self after dinner.
With much love,
PbandJaney
